Duloe (Cornish: Dewlogh) is a historic rural parish in South East Cornwall, situated between the towns of Liskeard and Looe. Evidence of human activity in the area dates back more than 2,500 years, giving the parish a rich and varied history that remains evident in its landscape today.
The village of Duloe developed as a traditional linear settlement along the main road, where many of its older cottages, farmhouses and the village pub can still be found.
Duloe Parish covers a diverse and attractive area of farmland, wooded valleys and river landscapes. Stretching from Trenant Point and the East Looe River northwards for approximately five miles, the parish includes the settlements of Duloe, Herodsfoot and Tredinnick, together with numerous farms, hamlets and individual rural properties scattered across the countryside.
The parish is home to several notable historic and natural features. Most famous is the Duloe Stone Circle, one of Cornwall’s smallest and most distinctive prehistoric monuments, dating from the Bronze Age and unique for being constructed from white quartz stones.
The parish also contains a wealth of archaeological and historic sites that reflect centuries of settlement and agricultural activity. The surrounding countryside offers extensive woodland, wildlife habitats, public footpaths and scenic views, making the area popular with walkers and nature enthusiasts.
